So right now EWTN is re-airing the TLM that the FSSP offered at the Our Lady of the Angels Monestary today (as in Friday.) The priest giving the homily said something I just had to post here. It’s a great rejoinder to those who complain about the “lack of laity participation” in the Tridentine Mass/Extraordinary Form. He likened the laity participation to Our Lady’s actions at the foot of the Cross. To the 5 senses, she was doing nothing, but I don’t know any Christian who would question that her heart was totally united to Christ on the Cross.

God Bless! ^_^

This post is adopted from a post I made in the blog I write in for my off-line friends. All identifying information has been removed…unless you happened to be at the same Mass, I guess. =-p

First off, here are today’s readings, for anyone needing a refresher.

The Gospel of the Sunday is one we’ve heard before (because it repeats every 3 years =-p). The interpretation seems plainly obvious: don’t assume that, because you have Earthly treasure, you can rest easy, “eat, drink, and be merry,” as the scripture says. Well, not according to Fr. B, who celebrated the Mass Dad and I went to today. According to Fr. B, that is the LAST thing this Gospel reading is about; it has NOTHING to do with eternity in the least. Well, now…I’m digging my nails into my missal cover, but I figure, “OK, whatever.” Then Father gets into what this Gospel reading is “really” about, like we’re all idiots and he’s going to “educate” us. (My observation is that, 9 times out of 10, if there’s considerable heresy in a homily, the priest spewing it is doing so in this precise attitude.) Know what that passage is really about in the Gospel According to Fr. B? Pro-Communism, pro-liberation theology. Um…except the Church condemns both… You know it’s bad when it’s too liberal even for Mom. As she said when I answered her inquiry of how Mass went, “He was in Africa too long.” (Or South America…neither of us quite remembers which, but South America makes more sense in context. He’s not an official priest in the parish, so he’s usually “off the radar screen.”) Look down at the mouse and keyboard you’re using, crud, the monitor you’re staring at right now. Think you own that? Nope; that hardware belongs to everyone. That monitor belongs to the people and how dare you, you wretched person, think it belongs to you or that you have any kind of special right or claim on it!

Um….yeah…needless to say, Dad and I were both fairly peeved. Add the parish pastor’s attack of the Extraordinary form of the Mass in the bulletin, and I was neither happy nor proud to be a parishioner at [Parish X] today. I rarely am, though.

Rebuttal: Were the Early Christians Communists?

and
Instruction on “Theology of Liberation” (1984)

Also, a prayer request: a friend, young adult like myself, recently lost his father. Please keep his father and the family in your prayers.
Réquiem ætérnam dona ei Dómine; et lux perpétua lúceat ei. Requiéscat in pace. Amen.
