Notes:

A) Blogger is extremely ADD. Expect posts do jump topics more often than Democrats changing positions. Blogger is also conservative on pretty much everything. B) As far as this blogger is concerned, the SSPX is at least irregular canonically, if not in outright schism. I'm sure there are many holy people in the group, and for some the SSPX Mass could well be the only alternative to worshiping the "Earth goddess" in their home parish, but otherwise, a Catholic is morally bound to attend a Mass offered according to the permissions in Summorum Pontificum, should he wish to worship according to the Extraordinary form. C) Just because I link to a site DOES NOT mean I condone every last link and statement ON that site. I take no responsibility for where you go after leaving my blog.

Marriage and the Reformation

First, unrelated to the main post, I’d like to update the sidebar on this blog to reflect the current canonical status of the SSPX, (regardless of foolish opinions held by Bp. Williamson,) but I’ve kind of forgotten how to do so….sorry!

Anyway, my point here this evening is to make a short-and-to-the-point statement on how the many crises facing marriage today can be traced back to the tragedy of history commonly known as the Protestant Reformation, though I’m one of those who believes “revolt” and “rebellion” to be more accurate terms. After reading this, I suspect readers will be able to understand why I hold the position that a return to a universal recognition of marriage as a Sacrament is the only way it will survive the current socio-political climate, not just here in the United States, but everywhere.

Prior to the Reformation, all Christians shared the proper understanding of marriage as one of the seven Sacraments established by Christ Himself. (That starts one issue I take with the, “We all worship the same Jesus!” approach to ecumenism: the Jesus that Catholics and Orthodox Christians believe in, the real Jesus and the Jesus of history, established SEVEN Sacraments, not one, two, or none, depending on which Protestant sect you follow.) The Church managed the Sacrament, not the State, and the State obediently let the Church “do Her thing” as regarded it.

Then comes the Reformation.

By diminishing marriage as a Sacrament, the rebels, intentionally or not, regulated it to a mere civil contract. (Anglicans, anyone?) As we’ve clearly seen, especially in the past half-century in the US, marriage that is merely a civil contract can be dissolved for any reason whatsoever. The State now regulates marriages and it sets its own rules regarding it. Furthermore, the “Reformation” encouraged a arrogant level of autonomy, one example being in the individual’s “right” to “interpret” Scripture however he sees fit, (the incomplete canon they have to interpret is another problem all together.) This autonomy is further shown in how Christians now think they “own” their own bodies, so of course contracept and abort all you want! No Church has the right to tell you what to believe! If YOUR interpretation of Scripture says you can close your womb of your own volition, and you’ve “really” prayed for the guidance of the Holy Spirit on this one, then that’s fine! I do believe it worth noting, though, that it is unlikely that the “reformers” themselves would like where their thought has gone today. I doubt Luther would look at the ecclesial community, (NOT!!! Church,) that bares his name today and recognize it as anything he wanted to achieve. When marriage is merely a civil contract, who is the State to deny it to two men, or two women, or one man and several women? The atheistic state has no grounds for doing so, but the Christian faith does.

Anyway, my point is that the “reformation” shifted the “responsibility” for marriage from the Church, where it rightfully belongs, to the State. Never mind Christ’s instruction, “What God has joined together, let no man tear asunder!” If you want to know what the greatest threat to Satan is at any given time in history, look at what the fiend attacks most viciously. Right now, it’s marriage, so imagine the power that a strong, Catholic family has, the “domestic Church,” modeled after the Holy Family, has to turn this culture AGAINST Satan’s wishes for it!

As a disclaimer, I know full well not every last Protestant accepts or likes divorce. My boyfriend came from such a home and he views divorce as a non-option for any professed Christian.

Aaaaand…I’m being summoned. I might elaborate on this further later, if Java homework doesn’t kill me first! =-S

An update? Eek-gads!

So I’ve been busy in the forever since I last posted.

  • Pulled a 4.0 GPA in my computer schtuff at the community college. They want me to join the Greek thinger for 2-year colleges. Debating if it’s worth it, since I already have my BA and won’t be transferring anywhere.
  • I have a boyfriend. Miracle of miracles! Met him at where I worked this summer. He’s not Catholic, (Presbyterian,) but I do bring it before the Lord in prayer on a daily basis. He’s 500+ miles away, though! =-(
  • Major awesome points for the lifting of the excommunications against the SSPX Bishops. Major fail to Bp. Williamson for denying the Holocaust. Rumor has it he also believes 9-11 was an inside job. Friggin’ loon. I anticipate he’ll eventually ditch the SSPX for the SSPV, CMRI, or some other sede group.
  • Taking Java II and JavaScript at the community college to keep my freaking loans in deferrment.
  • Considering applying for a job that would have me relocating to the state my boyfriend lives in, but there’s sooooooo much that has to work out for it to happen. PLEASE pray that God opens the way!
  • Still teaching 4th grade CCD at the parish. It’s going OK. One of my problem students has been behaving better as of late.

That’s been my life. How’s yours?

God bless! ^_^/

It lives!

My absolute favorite parody blog, the Spirit of Vatican 2, seems to have risen from its ashes! ^_^

Nearly had a mini-heart attack when I was going through my feeds and saw there was a new post!

Kind of wish I could merge “tags” and “categories” here. Ah well. I’d use them interchangeably anyway.

2 MFVA Friars learn the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite

Usus Antiquior Training for Two Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word

In totally unrelated news, I was just in the room with my mom, and she had CSI on AMC (what the crud is a show that recent doing on that channel???) and there was a man on there who’d pretty much peeled off his face with a broken mirror. How he got to that situation is also disgusting, so I won’t go into it, but daaaaang…they really will show anything on TV these days. It won’t be too soon that I get that image out of my head. u_u Ugh!

EDITED TO CORRECT: It wasn’t CSI; it was one of those movies about Hannibal Lector. I still think an R-rating was too generous to just that scene alone, let alone anything else in the movie.

Anti-Catholicism IS the last acceptable prejudice in this country

As the American Papist and Fr. Z. both take note of.

You would NOT see this kind of shot taken at the Jewish people or Muslims (and indeed, the latter category has a modern history internationally of rioting over any attempt.)

Cheap, media. Cheap. Not that I expect any better.

Another awesome episode of “The Vortex”

(Lest the code above not work: http://www.realcatholictv.com/premium/playEmbed.swf?id=1104)

So that’s what happened to Fr. Francis Mary Stone, MFVA…

Though, according to the Curt Jester, the “Stone” part of that is the only part of that title that remains…

Selling nutritional drinks? o_O

Somehow, seeing a picture of him in shorts and a t-shirt creeps me out to no end.

The man still has the mark of a priest on his soul–that’s indelible–so he could hear confessions from someone in danger of death, but otherwise he’s a layman once more.

I can only imagine how the other friars have been feeling; it has to be like a member of your family leaving you; rips your heart out.

Sancta Maria, ora pro nobis. u_u

It’s up, it’s down…

So yesterday YouTube rightfully suspended the account of a user engaging in hate speech against Catholics, specifically desecration of the Eucharist. This was consistent with their past actions of pulling videos of people urinating on Holocaust memorials and the ilk. However, that didn’t last long. Within 24 hours, the videos are back up and the user’s account is reinstated. This, to me, is sheer bull. Anyone with half a brain knows DANG WELL that, were it the Koran being treated thus, there would be NO second chance for that user account. NONE! Think how outraged the MSM was when there were allegations of the Koran being desecrated at Guitanimo {sp?} Bay!

I was reading in the comments of The American Papist that when someone tried to specifically flag one of the videos as “hate speech,” You Tube (owned by Google, remember,) stated that Catholics are not a “protected group” and therefore are not covered by any of the site’s anti-hate-speech rules. So much for Google’s policy of “Do No Evil.” (Then again, I started to suspect that was a load of crock when they agreed to censure search results in China.)

Ack, Java class is starting. I’ll rant more later. >_>

Grrr…..

How do I set this thing to assume raw HTML? >_>

Awesome new Catholic TV channel, online, and an awesome video from it

I really hope that HTML works out… http://www.realcatholictv.com/playEmbed.swf?id=961, if it doesn’t.

I’ve been watching clips from here and am REALLY liking what I see. Catholic, unashamed, faithful, great! I heard about this site from both the message boards at www.fisheaters.com and while listening to Relevant Radio. That’s two positive endorsements right there. The videos are higher quality than I thought they’d be, too. There will be premium features starting next month. It’s $10/month, so I might try it for a month and determine if it’s worth the money. Of course, I need a job first so I HAVE money….prayers on that would be appreciated…. u_u
